The history of the company

Emmaboda Granit AB began quarrying stone for over 100 years ago, in 1907 to be precise. At the time, the company was called Bröderna Svenssons Stenhuggeri. The reason for choosing Emmaboda as the production site was the fact that the founder's father had begun producing memorial stones for the local market here. The business quickly became successful and by the end of the 1930s, the company was Sweden's largest producer of memorial stones with 120 employees in Emmaboda.

After the company changed owners in 1978, the focus has been stone quarrying and processing of the stone.

The expansion has continued. Today, Emmaboda Granit AB is Sweden's largest producer of natural stone. The company still produces memorial stones. This ensures that the traditional craftsmanship remains within the company. The most expansive section of the business, however, is the production of building stone for the house and construction sectors.

Quarries

Our quarries are located in the regions of Halland, Skåne and Småland. We make use of the most modern quarrying methods in the world. Our geologist continually examines the possibilities for continued production in the existing quarries while at the same time investigating potential new sites.

Most of the block stone we produce is exported, mainly to Europe and Asia, where it is used for production of both memorial stones and building stone. The waste products from the quarries are used for many different things such as armourstone.

Processing of building stone

In our up to date factory in Emmaboda, which is constantly being modernized, we produce products that meet the demands of today, in building and landscape architecture.

In Emmaboda, 90 % of the raw stone we work with comes from our own quarries. Because of the large size of our production, we can always find the type of stone that best meets your demands of colour and texture. This also allows us to meet future demands should additional orders be required.

The very best results are always reached when the collaboration between architect and customer is initiated at an early stage. This allows for a discussion on how to best resolve the technical, aesthetic and economic issues of the project, leading to the selection of the most appropriate stone.
